Health 3 days ago

A viral YouTube video by influencer Felca has ignited a national conversation in Brazil about the adultization of children and the monetization of minors’ images on social media. With over 40 million views, the video pressured lawmakers to act, resulting in more than 60 legislative proposals. One bill, PL 2628, dubbed the ’Felca Bill,’ has already passed the Senate and is now under review in the Chamber of Deputies.

Laís Peretto, executive director of Childhood Brazil, explains the bill’s key pillars, emphasizing the need for collective responsibility. Psychologist Nay Macedo highlights the behavioral and cognitive impacts of adultization on children, differentiating between types of online exposure, including ’sharenting.’ She warns that even seemingly harmless content can attract predators.

The podcast ’O Assunto’ delves into best practices for protecting minors online, urging parents, tech companies, and policymakers to collaborate. With 168 million downloads, the podcast underscores the growing public demand for stronger child protection measures in the digital age.
