Miniature Luxury Car Maker Hedley Studios Saved by US Investment

Business 3 days ago

Hedley Studios, the UK-based maker of miniature electric classic cars, has been rescued through a deal led by US merchant bank Island Capital Group. The company, formerly called The Little Car Company, was sold via a pre-pack administration after financial struggles. Founded in 2018, Hedley Studios gained fame by crafting three-quarter-scale replicas of iconic vehicles like Bugatti’s Type 35, priced at £75,000 or more. Its partnerships with luxury brands such as Ferrari and Aston Martin have fueled its growth.

The acquisition marks a turning point for Hedley Studios, allowing it to accelerate global expansion. CEO Ben Hedley praised Island Capital’s investment as pivotal for reaching new audiences. The firm has already delivered over 500 miniature cars to clients in 60 countries, blending classic design with modern electric technology. Andrew Farkas of Island Capital highlighted the brand’s rapid success and its appeal to automotive enthusiasts seeking unique, driveable artworks.

With fresh funding, Hedley Studios aims to reinforce its position as a leader in luxury miniature vehicles. The company’s creations, often described as ’driveable artworks,’ combine nostalgia with innovation. Island Capital’s backing signals confidence in the brand’s future, as demand grows for electric reinterpretations of historic cars. The deal ensures the survival of a British luxury innovator while opening doors to broader international markets.
