Microsoft Teams Enhances Security with Malware and URL Protection
Technology 2 days ago
Microsoft Teams is introducing a two-pronged security upgrade to combat malware and phishing attacks. The platform will now block messages containing dangerous file types like executables and warn users about malicious URLs in chats and channels. These updates, outlined in roadmap entries 499892 and 499893, are scheduled for a September 2025 rollout.
In addition to these measures, Teams has integrated with Defender for Office 365, allowing admins to block communications from flagged domains. A new feature called Sensitive Content Detection will also scan for confidential data like credit card numbers during screen sharing, alerting users to prevent leaks. These enhancements build on recent security updates, including blacked-out screens for protected calls.
With over 320 million active users, Microsoft continues to refine Teams as a top collaboration tool. The company’s focus on security and productivity, including upcoming iOS Live Activity widgets, ensures Teams remains a preferred platform for remote and hybrid work environments.
