Sports 11 days ago

Mikel Arteta has expressed his excitement over Arsenal’s attacking options after Viktor Gyokeres and Kai Havertz both scored in a dominant 3-0 pre-season victory. Gyokeres netted his first goal for the club, while Havertz came off the bench to add a third, demonstrating their versatility. Arteta emphasized the duo’s ability to play together, stating, ’They can play together, Kai can play in different positions as well. It elevates the team’s level and options of the squad.’

Gyokeres, a £63.7m signing, has already impressed with his instinctive finishing, with Arteta warning defenders they risk being ’destroyed’ if they give him space. The Gunners also won a post-match penalty shootout, with new signing Martin Zubimendi scoring the decisive spot-kick. Arteta hinted at further transfers, saying, ’We are actively looking at options, there are a few players that may have to leave as well.’

The match also saw Declan Rice encouraging Gyokeres to perform his trademark mask celebration, while Havertz showcased his speed and finishing. Arteta confirmed Leandro Trossard should be fit for the Premier League opener against Manchester United, with no other fitness concerns in the squad. The Emirates crowd gave a warm reception to Noni Madueke, highlighting the positive atmosphere ahead of the new season.
