Copied!
Flamengo, Brazil’s celebrated soccer club, is set to parade its fourth Copa Libertadores trophy through downtown Rio de Janeiro. The victory celebration, expected to draw around 500,000 fervent fans, will see the champions travel on a decorated sound truck from Rua Primeiro de Março to Avenida Presidente Antônio Carlos. The city has prepared a major security operation for the event, including 21 security checkpoints with metal detectors and restrictions similar to the famous Copacabana New Year’s Eve celebrations.

The Rio mayor’s office has established a detailed plan involving multiple municipal agencies and security forces. Road closures in the city center will begin at 5 AM, with a scheduled reopening at 4 PM. To facilitate movement, the public is strongly advised to use the metro, with the Carioca station being the recommended point of access. Several bus routes will be diverted, and the metro system will operate with enhanced service and crowd control measures throughout the day to accommodate the massive influx of supporters.

The players are scheduled to arrive at Galeão International Airport at 9:30 AM before heading to the parade route. The celebration will feature three large sound towers and a planned stop for the team to greet their fans. Authorities have prohibited glass bottles in the parade area to ensure everyone’s safety during this immense and joyous gathering for the first Brazilian team to win four Libertadores titles.
