Clooney’s Lost Role: The Thelma & Louise Part That Made Pitt a Star

Copied!
George Clooney has revealed a long-held Hollywood secret: he was a finalist for the role of J.D. in the 1991 classic ’Thelma & Louise.’ The part, which required a shirtless scene, famously went to Brad Pitt, launching his film career. Clooney admitted he avoided watching the movie for years out of annoyance, believing it was the opportunity that could have catapulted him from television to film stardom.

The two actors, now close friends and frequent co-stars, can laugh about it now. Clooney shared that Pitt still gives him a hard time about losing the part. Geena Davis, who starred in the film, recalled Pitt’s audition, noting his charisma was so powerful it made her forget her own lines, ultimately leading her to recommend ’the blonde one’ to producers.

Despite the early rivalry, Clooney and Pitt have since collaborated on multiple successful films, including the ’Ocean’s’ trilogy and the recent thriller ’Wolfs,’ solidifying one of Hollywood’s most enduring friendships and professional partnerships.
